It may be fairly difficult for younger WWE fans to understand, but there was a time back in the early 2000s when R-Truth was a major player in professional wrestling. After an uneventful run in the WWF as K-Kwik, Truth resurfaced in TNA performing under his real name (Ron Killings), and quickly became the top heel in the fledgling company.

It was during this time that he first became known as The Truth, thanks to his brutally open and honest promos.

In August 2002, Killings defeated Ken Shamrock to become the first African-American winner of the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Killings defended the title against a variety of opponents for over three months before coming up short against Jarrett in November of the same year. Well, Jarrett and Vince Russo, to be exact.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
