WWE: 4 Ways 'I Quit' Matches Can Become Compelling Again

4. An I Quit Match Is Not A Submission Match

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=14DK8PTl01Y Many people who hate I Quit matches and believe they should no longer be part of the WWE really just hate submission matches- the problem is that bad I quit matches really don't have anything to differentiate themselves from submission matches and so it can sometimes seem like waiting until one opponent or the other says 'I quit' from a submission move instead of tapping. An I Quit Match therefore should be one of a brutal nature, with opponents using weapons and the like to try and beat each other down and bend their limbs in all sorts of vicious directions. The best I Quit Matches have people quitting when they are in a precarious position and are frightened of what the next blow might do to them. Or heels screaming at faces to quit as they brutally thrash them with whatever weapon comes to hand. This can admittedly put a few people on edge in this age of PG- Rated television but the fact of the matter is that I Quit matches are usually reserved for Extreme Rules or a big PPV so they can be saved for special occasions in the same way that Hell in a Cell is.
