WWE: 5 Most Memorable 'Spinner' Championship Holders

4. Randy Orton

4Orton Randy Orton€™s combined number of reigns with the €˜Spinner€™ title belt is no meager feat. Orton has held the title for a total of 420 days, beyond the likes of Triple H, Edge, The Miz and Sheamus. Orton€™s first reign as champion began somewhat controversially; he was awarded the title by Mr McMahon following an injury to Cena which consequently ended their two-month feud in 2007. On the same night that Orton was awarded the title at No Mercy, he lost it to Triple H in the opening match of the event, before going on to regain it later on that night. After becoming a two-time champion in one night, Orton went on to successfully defend the championship against Shawn Michaels, Jeff Hardy and John Cena. At WrestleMania XXIV, Orton defeated Cena and Triple H in a triple threat match to continue his reign. However, after 203 days Orton€™s second reign came to an end at Backlash when he lost the title to Triple H. Orton€™s third reign as champion didn€™t come until a year later at the same event that he€™d lost the belt. In a six-man tag team match, The Legacy defeated the team of Triple H, Batista and Shane McMahon which meant that Orton would win the championship. Orton€™s third reign came to an end 42 days later at Extreme Rules where he was defeated by Batista. He would go on to win the championship again less than two months later on Raw. He and Cena would swap the gold for four months until Orton€™s fifth reign came to an end at Bragging Rights. Following this loss, Orton wouldn€™t hold the belt until eleven months later when he won a six-pack challenge at Night of Champions featuring Chris Jericho, Edge, John Cena, Wade Barrett and Sheamus. This reign would last just over two months until he was defeated by the aforementioned Miz. None of Orton€™s individual reigns were particularly remarkable; his longest lasting just 90 days. However, with the likes of John Cena and Batista, Orton represented a new generation of wrestling following the likes of Triple H, Kurt Angle and The Rock. He sits behind only John Cena with the number of reigns. Orton€™s six reigns identified him as a foundation of WWE€™s main event and he went on to win the World Championship twice in 2011.
