WWE: 7 Genuine Examples Of Triple H Doing "What's Best For Business"
5. Losing To Chris Jericho & Chris Benoit In May 2001
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJb9sC4I2J8 This was one of those occasions where it wasn't necessarily a really long feud that ended a couple of months after it started. Instead, it was something that was done over the course of one episode of Raw and saw Triple H, as well as Steve Austin, make huge stars out of Chris Jericho and Chris Benoit at a time when WWE really needed to develop talented guys like them. It was a very intense match that saw Hunter accidentally hit Austin with a sledgehammer shot to the chest leading to the Jericho pin and the tag team title win for the Jericho/Benoit duo. Even though Hunter and Austin were not a full time tag team, they did become allies and won the tag titles, so when they lost them to two guys that were lower on the totem poll it really was a big deal. The match is most known for the night when Triple H tore his quad in his left leg, yet he continued to wrestle for a couple more minutes and earned a huge amount of respect in doing so.
