WWE: 7 Predictions For John Cena's Future

2. He Will Be A Part Time In-Ring Performer Within Five Years

The Rock vs John Cena

Retirement isn't something we should think about right now with Cena. He's young enough where you know he can go on a full time schedule for another three years at least, but once he hits 40 then it will definitely cross his mind. It has to. Due to the schedule he's had over the years, the injuries he's suffered, all the time on the road and the wear and tear on his body he has to realize that at some point he will need to slow down. That's not to say he will be off Raw in three years or five years. It just means he might take a reduced schedule in five years. Think about how other WWE legends like Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker were booked in the last few years of their active careers. Michaels was still on Raw nearly every week up until his 2010 retirement. Undertaker was working on television fairly regularly through most of 2009 although he wasn't doing house shows as much. Cena can still have a TV presence without working 250 days per year. The difference between Cena and guys like Undertaker or Michaels is that those guys had kids that they went home to spent time with. Cena does not have children. He's said he doesn't want any. That's why he's more likely to be active longer than most WWE guys. He's a WWE lifer.
