WWE: 8 Matches That Should Happen At WrestleMania 30

John Cena Vs Randy Orton

Match 7 I came up with this match when I realised something quite cool; both Cena and Orton made their WrestleMania debut on its 20th incarnation and at €˜Mania 30, they will be marking a full decade of being in the WWE. Between them over that period they have held a staggering 21 World Titles between them and have very much been the top guys for the entirety of that period. But just who is the best? This is exactly how this match would be built up; the two superstars who have dominated the past 10 years going head to head to determine just who keeps the bragging rights as the best of the past decade! It also keeps two future hall of famers away from the titles and the young guys so that the new blood of WWE can gain purchase. It€™s a simple concept but one that I believe the fans would no doubt get behind. The Smarks would want Orton win and the Marks would want a Cena win. It works just like that really but this kind of feud can actually use some emotion to drum it home. Randy Orton sucks as a face! It€™s a fact that I, You, management and especially Orton knows to be true. He sells a bit of merch and for some reason in the eyes of the powers that be that means that he can€™t turn heel! I would argue that Orton€™s fans will buy his merch regardless of his allegiances so why not let him do what he does best; kick top talent upside the head! I€™d have Orton turn fairly shortly and enter a feud for the World title. Winning and later putting over young talent. As we approach the Rumble, Cena, (sans Title) announces he will go into the record books as winning the Rumble a joint record 3 times and go on to face the WWE Champion! Before the Rumble during a backstage interview, Orton announces he will also be in the Rumble but he€™s entered not to win, but instead to target a very particular man with a huge target on his back. As the rumble plays out, Orton enters early and performs as normal whilst the commentators try and understand just who Orton could be targeting. As soon as Cena€™s music hits, we find out! Orton meets Cena half way up the ramp and proceeds to tear him a new one. The two brawl around the ring for some time while the Rumble match carries on. Eventually, Orton manages to put Cena through the announce table, drags his carcass into the ring and flips him over the rope. Then, to everyone€™s amazement, he hops over the top rope himself and hits the floor. After a long stare at Cena he makes his way to the back without looking back. The next night on RAW we get Orton explaining his actions; he understands that the two of them have been at the top for over 10 years but doesn€™t agree with the amount of fame and accomplishments that are thrown Cena€™s way. He wants to prove, at the grandest stage, that he is out and out the best performer from the past decade. Cena doesn€™t agree to the match even if he is furious he didn€™t go on to win the Rumble. He cites that the two have no reason to fight and that they have both carved out incredible careers and that the match would simply be for Orton€™s ego. Randy apparently respects Cena€™s decision and only mentions the ordeal sparingly on TV but does continue to try and sway Cena into the contest during the run up to Elimination Chamber. At the PPV, Cena gets a title shot for some John Cena type reason against the champ but, as the end of the match nears; Orton makes his presence known again causing Cena to lose his last shot at being Champ heading into €˜Mania. At this point Cena finally snaps on Orton and, the next night on RAW as Orton starts to talk to open the show, Cena runs out and the two go at it. Eventually the locker room splits them and we see Orton with a massive smile on his face. The match is made official and for the lead up to €˜Mania we get the two spouting off there different accolades, occasionally coming to blows but, on the final RAW before €˜Mania, the feel changes dramatically. Both men list the others bad points personally. Cena asks how Orton€™s suspensions stemming from wellness violations felt which is retorted by Orton asking Cena how is ex-wife is. Again, the two start a huge brawl that gets ended by the locker room again but also, we see Vince, Trips, Steph, even the commentators and all manner of backstage staff we rarely see come out to really drive home how personal this has become. It€™s a different build to a Cena match and could very well be both men€™s best angle in their careers. The personal touch would have to be OK€™d by both men of course but I don€™t see how a slight mention of some troubling times wouldn€™t be ok for the angle. Winner: Randy Orton Personally, I€™d lean towards Orton seeing as Cena€™s list of accomplishments overshadows that of even Orton€™s! Cena has won 21 Championships and 2 Rumbles compared to Orton€™s 11 titles and 1 Rumble. But really, it doesn€™t matter who would win this match. It€™s there purely for spectacle and to have the two men have a 5 star match, which I€™m sure it would be, on the grandest stage.
