WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Dec 6)

7. Not So Golden

In 2015, WWE€™s writing sucks. Not that this is a revelation or anything. It's just bizarre how on nearly every level it is so, so awful. While nearly every wrestler has an interesting story to tell, upper management only cares about a select few. The rest are ignored and interchangeable. Take Dustin Rhodes for example. Dustin is the son of Dusty Rhodes, one of the biggest names in the history of the business. His character Goldust has been with the company on-and-off since 1995, he€™s also battled and overcame an addiction to drugs and alcohol, and got himself into tremendous shape at 46-years-old. And he just returned from a seven month injury. There are so many stories you could tell with him. WWE decided to go with €œman who jobs to Alberto Del Rio in two minutes.€ This is symptomatic of the entire mid-card. It is hard to care about 90% of them because we€™re never given a reason to. Goldust has returned, and has not been given one single second of TV time to talk about why he€™s back, or what he hopes to accomplish in this last stage of his career. He€™s back in jobber mode, when so many others could fill that role. WWE tries to big main event wrestling matches every week. That€™s not working for the ratings. So how about giving storylines to the mid-card? If we don€™t know why these people are employed and what they want, then why should we care? And what the hell type of move was Goldust going for anyway when he was reversed into Del Rio€™s finisher on Raw? A bulldog into the turnbuckle? That wasn€™t going to work silly!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
