Roman Reigns has had well over a year to justify his push as the next top star in the company. He had the entire WWE machine behind him, something that Daniel Bryan was never fully given. Along the way Roman has taken a couple of steps forward, only to fall back a bit. And during that entire time, hes yet to cut one good promo. Perhaps a modern day Godfather if you will...minus the prostitutes. Roman simply cant connect as a babyface with the majority of the crowd. John Cena receives a lot of jeers, but he still has a huge fanbase. Roman hasn't build that. As a No. 3 or 4 face hed be fine. Without the over pushing, more people would probably like the guy. Weve seen him booed mercilessly in arenas across the country, but watching his face being beaten to a bloody pulp (even if it was fake blood), as the crowd roared in approval is a sad, weird, and painfully funny moment that signified the end result of all that TV time and promotion put behind him. Its over. This has to be it. The man needs to turn heel soon. Imagine Andre the Giant ripping off the cross around Hulk Hogans neck before WrestleMania 3 and the crowd cheering Andre for it! Imagine people cheering for Shawn Michaels over Steve Austin at Mania 14. Times have changed, but they havent changed to the point where a babyface having to spend some time in the hospital should get a pop from the crowd. Time to kick out.
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
