WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (June 19)
5. Its Getting Scary
Yikes. A 2.03 Rating? Is this WCW Thunder in 2000 or WWEs flagship show? This week WWE drew its worst rating in 19 years for Monday Night Raw. This takes us to before Steve Austin emerging as a top star. That was before The Rock was a household name, and before Roman Reigns was out of middle school.
The WWE Network has been a great success for the company, as theyve convinced over a million fans to give them some of their money every single month. Those numbers are due largely in part to there being an impressive number of hardcore fans out there. So no matter what, they will probably continue to support the product for some time. But domestically, WWE may have hit their ceiling in terms of subscriptions. When your ratings are as low as they are now, there are less fans to convert, because the casual ones are leaving in droves. Wall Street and the USA Network should be a bit worried.
Sure, there was some stiff competition against Raw this week, but there has been for years. Whether its been Nitro or the NFL, Vince always has had to battle someone. So what is it going to take for him to understand that this is a serious problem, and that he needs to do something drastic? It wasnt that long ago that drawing under a 3.0 rating seemed like a good time to shake things up, and then it became 2.5, and now we are dangerously close a 1.9. When more people were interested in watching Doink and Duke The Dumpster Droese than Roman Reigns and John Cena, then something is seriously wrong.
