John Cena proved once again that he is unable to sell a loss of any sorts this week. Its not in his DNA, and hes somehow never learned how to do it. Its a big part of the reason why people get so annoyed with him. Losing to The Rock at WrestleMania 28 seemed to have no effect on him, neither did the manhandling he experienced at the hands of Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam last year. Now his loss to Kevin Owens doesnt seem to be bothering him in the least. No one came in during Hulk Hogans reign in the WWF and beat him in their first match clean. Never happened to Steve Austin or The Rock either. This was a huge deal. A monumental moment in terms of WWEs storytelling. At least it should have been presented that way. It almost felt like an afterthought, though, and just part of the development for a rematch two weeks later. Instead of being confused how a first-timer (in a main roster capacity) beat him, or showing any signs of disbelief, Cena just verbally attacked Owens for not being a man. Doesnt make sense, but he went with it anyway. Owens beat Cena cleanly. He didnt have to resort to a groin kick like Rusev, or the use of a small child like Bray Wyatt. Doesnt matter, because despite pulling off one of the biggest upsets in WWE history, he hasnt earned Cenas respect!
As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at."
Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week.
