WWE And TNA: 7 Worst Moments Of The Week (Oct 25)

6. The Hall Is About To Close

Mark Henry is done in five months. He€™s made it clear that shortly after WrestleMania his contract is up, and he€™s calling it a career. He€™s been on the roster nearly 20 years, and right now, he means absolutely nothing. Like Damien Sandow nothing. For a brief time, Henry was one of the best heels of this generation. He carried himself like an absolute monster, and was downright scary on the mic. He was a main-event wrestler on SmackDown, picking up clean wins against some of the top stars on the brand. He teased retirement in a fantastic segment with John Cena a couple of years ago, and shot himself back into the spotlight. But just months before he leaves for good, beating him on TV means no more than pinning Zack Ryder. Henry has lost his last nine televised singles matches (somehow he was able to pin Heath Slater back in April on Main Event), and this week€™s loss to Kevin Owens was a foregone conclusion. The announcers don€™t treat wins against him like an accomplishment, and his opponents don€™t either. All those hours of building him up, and nothing is gained from it. Shouldn€™t someone who's given so much, and improved so much (think back to the Mae Young days) get a little something near the end? He probably won€™t even get a watch at his retirement party.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
