Call me old fashioned, but when a show is called Clash of Champions (and give me back the word “the” WWE!), you would think the focus should be on the champions. But as we’ve seen of late, the authority figures in the company are the end-all-be-all, and WWE is really trying to get this weird war between Raw and SmackDown over. However, it’s just impossible to take seriously.

We know this isn’t WCW vs. The WWF. This isn’t even TNA vs. WWE for all of approximately four weeks in 2010. This is one of Vince McMahon’s children against the other one, with Vince McMahon still in control and Mick Foley pretending to fear for his job. Poor millionaire. I’d just feel awful for the dude if he had to sit at home without a camera following him around everywhere he went without being scripted on what he should do next with Frank The Clown. What else could he possibly do with his life, write another book?

Really, what’s the endgame here anyway between Shane and Steph? The first one to bring their shows ratings back to a 2.0 gets even more TV time?

Anyway, with Mick's stumbling promo introducing the Cruiserweights, his Stephanie “shy smile” promo a few weeks back and now this, Mick is all over the place...and so is this entry.

Anyway...this war is silly because both shows look and sound exactly the same, so unless they’re going to drastically change things up and give each show different writers and directors, then scrap that whole plan and let’s focus on the wrestlers for the first time since 1996.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
