If you’re a wrestling fan of a certain vintage, chances are you’ll be well familiar with Vladimir.

Seen by many as the first true WWE – well, at that point WWF – die-hard fan, Vlad is one of those faces who seemed to be on every TV taping and every PPV for so many years across the 1980s, into the ‘90s and beyond.

During Night 1 of WrestleMania 37, it was confirmed that Vladimir will be getting his own time in the spotlight, with WWE Network and Peacock to premiere Superfan: The Story of Vladimir this summer.

Given how this weekend’s Showcase of the Immortals is the first time WWE has had fans in attendance for over a year, the company saw this as the perfect opportunity to announce this documentary and to also name Vladimir Abouzeide as the inaugural WWE Superfan.

In more recent years, fans like ‘Brock Lesnar Guy’, ‘Green Shirt Guy’, and the long haired fella and his mum have all become frequent parts of WWE programming – but it’s names such as Vlad and Ringside Charlie who were the trailblazers in this regard.
