WWE Backlash 2016: 10 Things You Might Have Missed

1. Mild Booing For Dean Ambrose

Saying pro wrestling fans are fickle is almost like an exercise in self-loathing, everybody is guilty of such fleeting admiration for their favourites. There was a time when someone like Dean Ambrose was a darling of the hardcore WWE fan, and maybe that's still true to an extent, but some turned their backs on him during Backlash.

A favourite of those who follow more than just WWE's wrestling bubble, AJ Styles was the one these fanatics wanted to win during the WWE World Title main event on the pay-per-view. Somewhat surprisingly, this led to some mild booing for Ambrose, the reigning champion.

There was hardly a torrent of abuse, but watching the bout for a second time reveals that some were less-than-enamoured when Ambrose fired up on the comeback trail against AJ. Boos were scattered, but they were certainly there, something that must be a new experience for the 'Lunatic Fringe' since becoming champ.

These people got their wish when Styles bagged the win and the title, but it's interesting to imagine that the babyface of the piece (Ambrose) was treated like the villain at points.
