WWE Backlash 2025: 7 Things That Must Happen

Could this happen? If so, would it quieten those still mad that The Rock wasn't on hand for WrestleMania 41?

Rock's omission from the main meat of the storytelling heading into John Cena dethroning Cody Rhodes was a baffling choice. It could've been part of an awkward creative power struggle between Dwayne and Triple H, but the only ones losing out in the end were WWE fans. After being present for Cena's industry-shaking heel turn at Elimination Chamber, The Rock really had to play a part at 'Mania, but he didn't.

So, either he or Cody Rhodes (or both) has to get involved in the main event on Saturday. Some might storm WWE HQ with pitchforks if Travis Scott is the only surprise yet again, or if the rapper is the one who costs Randy Orton in St. Louis. Trips could have a Missouri-sized riot on his hands if he dares try that!

Rock has some making up to do after being totally absent from WrestleMania, and Cody has plenty of history with both Cena and Orton to make his own interference logical. Dunno, man, it just feels like WWE needs to get this right and properly propel Cena’s heel run and union with The Rock to the forefront of TV again. That's too dazzling a story to leave as is.

If WWE didn't plan on having Cena use Rock's power and influence to push his retirement title run to the top, then why bother booking that Chamber angle in the first place? Last minute at the time or not, it needs to be impactful long term. The best way to do that is by having major players present for big time matches.
