2. Returning To WWE With An Injury And Other Problems
Batista returned to the WWE on the January 20th Raw, wrestling a week later at the Royal Rumble. What we didn't know at the time was that he was actually carrying a serious injury. "I'm coming back with an injury to my achilles tendon," he reveals on the DVD. The ailment was just the beginning of Batista's WWE problems. He received only a normal response to his return after four years away. It felt like the WWE dubbed crowd cheers in for Batista on the DVD. He does actually addresses those of us who said his return response wasn't strong "People said they didn't make a lot of noise, but in the arena it was loud." At the Royal Rumble Batista's bad luck continued. The backstage seamstress helped him design some new trunks, but then they wouldn't fit. In a further problem his boots wouldn't tie, which almost holds him up entering the stage. With all this he didn't have time to warm up and also got lost on the way to Gorilla position. It was a mini disaster, but nothing compared to the unthinkable reception he received. In one night WWE fans cost Batista his future as WWE Champion, booing him out of the building with unforgiving viciousness. Not that he thought it went too bad, "There's about 500 things I would have done different. Under the circumstances it went as perfectly as it could."
