WWE Battleground: 10 Facts You Didn't Know

7. A Title Has Never "Changed Hands"

Okay, so bear with me on this one.

While Battleground has seen new champions crowned — such as the Miz in 2014 when he won the Intercontinental Championship — we’ve never actually seen a title belt physically change hands, per se.

What I mean by this is that when the Miz won that title, the belt had previously been vacant. For all other instances in which the title was not vacant heading into the match, the holders have been successful in their defences.

The likes of AJ Lee, Alberto Del Rio, Curtis Axel, John Cena, the Usos, and the Prime Time Players have each held onto their respective titles when defending at the PPV. The only time this nearly wasn’t the case was when the Rhodes Brothers defeated the Shield in 2013; but that was of course a non-title match.

Long story short; the history books are pointing to a Dean Ambrose win at Battleground 2016.
