WWE Battleground: 10 Facts You Didn't Know

3. Worst Show Of The Year

That may sound like a bold claim to make but this isn’t necessarily my opinion. Rather, this is the verdict of the readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who in successive years voted Battleground the Worst Major Wrestling Show in all of professional wrestling.

The “awards” were doled out in 2013 and 2014 — the first two renditions of the PPV — suggesting that the concept was lucky to have even made it to a third year. Perhaps that’s why the WWE brought the big guns out with a Brock Lesnar main event appearance for the 2015 instalment.

Still, the show will go down as only the second PPV in WWE history to have won back-to-back recognition as the worst show of the year. The first PPV to claim that unwanted record was the reincarnation of the Great American Bash for its 2004 and 2005 efforts.

Again, this isn’t necessarily my opinion — I’m just the messenger. Funnily enough though, it is also what I actually think.
