The Shield explodes once again to kick off WWE's new era.

Last night on Monday Night RAW, Dean Ambrose defended his WWE Championship against former brother-in-arms (and former champion) Seth Rollins. The finish of the match was shrouded in controversy however, as both men had their shoulders pinned to the mat for the three count following a superplex from Rollins to Ambrose.

RAW ended with Rollins holding the belt aloft in the ramp, only for further coverage on the WWE Network to state that the match was a draw and Ambrose remained champion.

Confusion may have reigned supreme, but WWE has announced via a video update on their YouTube channel that a rematch has been signed for the very first live episode of SmackDown tonight.

That's right, the first SmackDown of a brand new era will see Dean Ambrose go one-on-one with Seth Rollins, with the WWE Championship on the line. Tonight's SmackDown was already a must-see due to the WWE Draft, and this further confirms that.

Will we get a clean finish however? With the triple threat at Battleground looming on the horizon, it is unlikely WWE will allow one of the former Shield members a clean win over the other, and another dirty finish is the most likely outcome. I've been wrong before however, so we'll just have to wait and see tonight.
