WWE Clash In Paris 2025: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

9. Sheamus And Rusev Fail To Deliver A Banger

This is the kind of match that looks awesome on paper, because everyone’s expecting the old League Of Nations buddies to chop, strike and kick the hell out of each other. Some will be rubbing their strong style mitts with glee at the mere prospect of Sheamus vs. Rusev, and they'll be predicting Sheamus vs. Gunther levels of banger once the bell rings.

Temper those expectations a little and hope to be pleasantly surprised.

This is Rusev’s first PLE match back since rejoining the company, so he might be feeling the pressure. Sure, he's a savvy veteran, but working Sheamus in a 15-20 minute PLE battle is one million miles away from tangling with Otis and Akira Tozawa in short bouts on TV. Hopefully, that 10 minute clash with Sami Zayn from the 11 August Raw has warmed Rusev up a little, as well as back to back collisions with Sheamus in June and July.

Here's hoping his lack of weekly ring time doesn’t end up wreaking havoc on the bout with Sheamus or leave this one as a 5/10 rather than an 8/10. Promising signs were there on those aforementioned Raw dates, but there's slightly less pressure on those than a full blown PLE in front of an expectant live crowd who yearn to be dazzled.

Sheamus and Rusev will want this to be a message to Triple H and the rest of the creative team that they're reliable (which they are) and capable of delivering the goods in loftier spots. Rusev, in particular, has everything to prove here. His second WWE run needs this bout to be a rip-roaring success.
