WWE Clash Of Champions 2016: 10 Things You May Have Missed
7. The Live Crowd Loved Brian Kendrick's Hellish Head Butt
There's little doubt that the creative team are interested in presenting T.J Perkins as a true underdog success story. The Cruiserweight Champ's pre-match promo slapped fans in the face with the idea that he's just happy to be in WWE. This meant that Brian Kendrick had to be the heel in their match, despite also being a cherished veteran.
After he had lost a spirited encounter for the title, it looked like Kendrick was willing to endorse Perkins as the better man and leave with his dignity intact. That didn't happen, the 37-year old aimed a head butt at his opponent, decking Perkins in a vicious moment.
As Michael Cole, Byron Saxton and Corey Graves discussed what had just happened, there was something else going on in the background. Instead of reacting out of disgust at Kendrick's lack of sportsmanship, the live crowd decided to instead cheer the fact he had just planted Perkins and laid him out on the canvas.
It's easy to imagine WWE were hoping the strike would be greeted with mass booing, but fans in Indianapolis seemingly loved Kendrick's hellish actions.
