WWE Draft 2017: 10 Things That Need To Happen

7. American Alpha To RAW

There have been some wild miscalculations at play with regard to American Alpha's SmackDown tenure. It seemed like the perfect move at the time; Alpha are the latter day reincarnation of The World's Greatest Tag Team, so it made sense to put them on SmackDown, the brand that subsequently signed Shelton Benjamin and was always colloquially known as 'the wrestling show' to RAW's sports entertainment show.

But Benjamin was sidelined with injury, and the Alphas never took off on the blue brand like they did in NXT. Once one of the most popular tag teams in developmental, they wrestled some Match of the Year candidates last year, and came across as tough yet affable amateur-background performers. Not unlike new RAW General Manager Kurt Angle...

Jordan and Gable put on a hell of a match against The Usos on the SmackDown before WrestleMania, and it's that kind of showing that would incentivise Angle to bring them over to RAW.

It'd put them on the same brand as former bitter enemies The Revival, and would give them the space to engage in some character building backstage skits alongside Angle. This is arguably the reason Alpha never got over in quite the same way on SmackDown as they did on NXT: we didn't see them grow and co-exist - we only saw them wrestle.
