WWE Elimination Chamber 2026: 7 Nightmares That Could Come True
4. The Box Gimmick Is Gobbledy Gooker 2.0
There's another, more horrifying outcome to this 'who's in the box?' premise.
Some outlets claim that former AEW man Danhausen will burst free from his wooden digs and start inflicting WWE's roster with curses aplenty at Elimination Chamber. They're pointing to Danhausen's real-life friendship with CM Punk and his admittedly impressive merchandise sales for an independent contractor (AEW stint aside) as proof it's almost locked in.
This writer remains unconvinced, but he's even less into the thought of Danny boy doing his thing in WWE generally. There are huge question marks over whether or not a comedic, goofy character like that will actually work in the company for longer than a few weeks; WWE are no strangers to over-the-top guises, obviously, but Danhausen has 'Woken' Matt Hardy flavour of the month written all over him.
Right, here's the deal. If this does happen, then yours truly (and presumably everyone else reading this) will hope it's a rip-roaring success. No-one has anything against Danhausen personally. He's a fun and ridiculous gimmick wrestler who has made the most of what he brings to the party. That's cool, but WWE has been putting a ton of TV time into this reveal so fans are expecting something/someone bigger.
Cast a glance back to how stupid the then-WWF looked for hatching The Gobbledy Gooker out of a giant egg at the 1990 Survivor Series. Not even 'Mean' Gene Okerlund going for a merry jig with the turkey could save the day. Fans were disappointed. That disappointment would resurface on Saturday if Danhausen does show face.
