1. WWE World Heavyweight Championship Elimination Chamber Match: The Underdogs
It is time for the Main Event. While it will never be as strong and violent of a match within this era, the Elimination Chamber match does hold up in brutality department, which is a rarity nowadays. When looking at the participants of this match, you see the perfect mesh of individuals. You have Cesaro, the "out of nowhere" talent that has proven himself to everyone, including Vince, that he has what it takes. You have Christian, the veteran who has found a way to get one more match over and over again. Then there's John Cena, who has held more major titles than almost any wrestler and more than anyone in this match. Bring in the strength of Sheamus, who is a powerhouse who looks to fight anyone and everyone. The Champion and "Face of the WWE" Randy Orton, who has been on a losing streak within the gauntlet, looks to protect his title at all costs. Finally, there's the most over wrestler in the company since probably Stone Cold Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan. You have everything you can look for: the old, the new, the good, the bad, the power, the beard. That being said, only one person can win and five have to be eliminated. First, we start off with the underdogs, the men who, while will make a statement at have a shot, will most likely not come out on top. In projected order of elimination, here we go.
Christian
When it was announced Christian would be in this match, I was excited for it. He is a veteran who has championship history and deserve another shot. However, you need to look at the facts. In the past two years, how often has Christian been injured? The correct answer is a lot. But that is understandable given he just turned 40. There aren't likely to give the title to someone who is injury prone and on the wrong side of 30. Add to the fact he was the only one that Orton beat in the gauntlet going to Elimination Chamber, Christian's chances are bleak. There was even news that he was placed into this match with the idea of if they had someone that wanted to place in later (e.g. Lesnar, Punk), Christian would be the one removed. Christian's time has unfortunately come and gone, sad to say. Odds: 0.5%
Sheamus
When the Royal Rumble started, everyone I talked to knew one person was going to be a "surprise entrant": Sheamus. Getting hurt back at Money in the Bank last year, his return timetable matched up perfectly with the Rumble. After an impressive showing, he showed that he still had the power he always had. That being said, with his return be very recent, he has no momentum at the moment. He is just an upper card face who can make a strong showing to remain relevant in the chamber. However, he is not over enough and not positioned enough to take the main event spot at Wrestlemania Odds: 2.5%
Cesaro
If you would have asked me a week ago of Cesaro's chances in the Elimination Chamber, I would have said 0% at best. With no momentum to him and no upper card experience, he looked to be a fish out of water, kayfabe-wise. We know he is probably the strongest and maybe even the best wrestler the company has, but that doesn't mean you automatically get a championship. However, after these two past weeks, this has changed dramatically. On last week's Smackdown, he pinned the champion clean in the ring. They did this more to make Orton look vulnerable, but Cesaro came out looking equally as strong. However, it was Monday's match with John Cena that really did it. While Orton is the champion and the "Face of the WWE", John Cena is the top guy in the WWE. While Cesaro did not beat Cena, Cena made Cesaro look like his equal, which says everything you need to know about Cesaro's future. However, look at that last word: future. His time isn't now. Cesaro will win the championship by the end of 2015, maybe even in 2014. However, right now is not that time. Odds: 4%
I am a recent college graduate who loves everything about sports and look to spread my opinions to those who will listen. My passion for the art of pro wrestling has been vast ever since 2011 when C.M. Punk dropped his "Pipebomb" in Las Vegas and hasn't dropped since.
