WWE Evolution: 6 Most Likely Outcomes
4. Mickie James Will Take The Fall In The Tag Team Match
Shortly after Evolution was unveiled, Trish Stratus vs. Alexa Bliss was announced as the first match to take place at the event, sticking with the whole past meets present theme. Of course, Trish's return was followed by fellow veteran Lita - who was set to take on Mickie James. However, both of these singles matches were eventually scrapped and replaced with a tag team match in which former rivals Trish and Lita will team up to take on the team of Alexa and Mickie.
Given that Alexa Bliss and Mickie James have been allies for quite some time, and that Trish and Lita have worked together before, the change is a logical one. Furthermore, should ring-rust have set in on the two legends, this would allow them to tag in and out quickly, without ever looking too rusty. However, there is likely a more obvious reason why this match was made.
Evolution celebrates the past and the present of WWE's women's division and, in many ways, it owes a great deal to the likes of Trish and Lita who paved the way for the women's revolution long before it was plastered all over WWE's programming. Thus, it would make sense for the company to reward these two stalwarts with a victory. By making it a tag team match, this would allow Trish or Lita to pin fellow veteran Mickie James, thus protecting young star Alexa Bliss - or replacement Alicia Fox - from a significant loss.
It would reward the past without endangering the future.
