The Fatal-4-Way situation put in place for the WWE Intercontinental Title just screams title change. As an overbearing and obnoxious heel, The Miz is the kind of loudmouth that the company love knocking down eventually. It's all part of the promotion's innate need to show that the good guys always win in the end.

Scanning the list of opponents Miz has at Extreme Rules, each one of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and Cesaro would make a fine champion. In fact, The Miz is probably the one that fans would least like to see on top of the mountain, but that's precisely why booking him to escape with the gold would be memorable.

Owens and Zayn have their own issues, so it's plausible that they will pair off eventually as the match progresses. Miz has already managed to sneak a win over Cesaro at Payback, and that kind of cheap win could become his forte as Intercontinental Champion.

It worked for The Honky Tonk Man years ago, but the fact remains that few would be expecting to see The Miz leave Extreme Rules with the title. That's the beauty of such an eventuality.
