WWE Extreme Rules 2016: 10 Things We Learned
2. Seth Rollins Has ReturnedÂ
Given that John Cena is set to make his televised return on the May 30 episode of Monday Night Raw, most fans could be forgiven for believing WWE would hold off on Seth Rollins. A glut of top talent is about to converge on the main roster again, so spacing them out would seem smart.
Still, there was something immediately satisfying about seeing Rollins in a WWE ring again at Extreme Rules. Attacking Roman Reigns after the main event, Rollins didn't show any signs of being a babyface. Regardless, he was cheered wildly for battering the man most consider an unwanted hero character at the top of the card.
That will likely remain the case going forward, even if Seth berates the audience for being on his side. The cowardly heel persona won't cut it here, Rollins has to be someone desperate to prove he didn't deserve to be stripped off the WWE Title even when injured.
For now, fans can revel in the fact that one of the best in-ring performers the promotion have on their payroll is back.
