WWE Extreme Rules 2018: 10 Things We Learned
1. Seth Rollins Is Destined To Return To The Main Event
Seth Rollins has been on an absolute roll this year. From running the gauntlet on Monday Night RAW to becoming Intercontinental Champion at WrestleMania, the Kingslayer has made his mark on 2018, but Extreme Rules suggests that things may be about to get even better for the former WWE Champion.
During the main event, Rollins put on an incredible performance against Dolph Ziggler, but he was unable to reclaim his Intercontinental Championship. However, the Iron Man match resulted in a draw, with Kurt Angle calling for Sudden Death in order to crown a winner. The subsequent finish saw Rollins distracted by McIntyre, allowing Ziggler to secure a victory. It was pretty clear that both of these finishes were orchestrated in a way to heavily protect Rollins from taking a clean loss to Ziggler.
In order for Rollins to move onto bigger and better things, he needed to be finished with the Intercontinental Championship storyline. This meant that a loss was inevitable. However, the protected finish suggests that WWE is finally ready to pull the trigger on Rollins's long-awaited main event push. And about time too.
