Then: Looking back, it's pretty incredible that WWE brought Bobby Lashley back after an 11 year absence only to immediately thrust him into a no-win situation at the GRR. Bobby worked close to 15 minutes in the 50-man special before being thrown out by Strowman. Here's another random little fact: Lashley didn't work a singles bout for WWE until the 23 July 2018 episode of Raw.

Yep, he was back in the promotion for over 3 months before they handed him a one on one. Most of his bouts had been tag-team or other multi-man scenarios. It's pretty wild to look back on that now. Vince McMahon clearly didn't have an ironclad plan in place for big Bobby.

He is credited with 2 eliminations though. Lashley tossed Elias out and helped Braun get rid of The Great Khali.

Now: Better days came Bobby's way after the Greatest Royal Rumble, but not before some more pain. His infamous sisters storyline with Sami Zayn was torture to sit through, for example. That was surely worth it when McMahon put the WWE Title on Lashley twice between 2021-2022. Combined, both reigns lasted well over 200 days, which is respectable in the modern era.

Bob's WWE deal expired and he left in August 2024. By September, he'd signed on the dotted line with Tony Khan's AEW, and he's since got the band back together with MVP and Shelton Benjamin. There was always a sense that WWE dropped the ball on The Hurt Business, so they're happily reunited as The Hurt Syndicate on the other channel.

All's well that ends well, but...Lashley sure doesn't feel like a former 2-time WWE Champ in AEW.
