WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Wrestlers - Where Are They Now?
5. Kevin Owens

Then: KO's WWE career was in a bit of an odd place by April 2018. He'd been humiliated backstage when Vince McMahon rejected his WrestleMania 33 match vs. Chris Jericho in 2017, and he teamed with Sami Zayn to put Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan over at 'Mania 34. A wobbly feud with Braun Strowman was waiting for Owens after Saudi.
It was Braun who eliminated him from the 50-man match too, but not before Kev sold like a pro for his old partner's Wall Of Jericho submission. Yes, in an over the top rope Rumble. Ignore the fine print.
Now: Owens has become one of the biggest stars in WWE. He lived a childhood dream by working Steve Austin's return match at 'Mania 38 in 2022, and he was earning significant praise for a heel run that got cut short by serious neck injuries in 2025. That cancelled his planned WrestleMania 41 bout with Randy Orton. Bizarrely, this opened the door for TNA's Joe Hendry to bag a match on the grandest stage.
Good for him, not so good for KO.
On the plus side, Kevin seemed to be in good spirits when he sat down for a chat with Cody Rhodes over the summer. Fans eagerly anticipate his comeback, but it's unlikely to happen for a while. There have even been rumours that Owens could miss WrestleMania 42 as well.
That match with Randy would've been fabulous, but it wasn't to be. Unfortunately, it'll be hard to heat that one back up again whenever KO is medically cleared.
