Then: This just in: 'Boy Wonder' Shane McMahon hasn't had a passable match since losing to Kevin Owens on the 4 October 2019 SmackDown. No, his cage effort vs. Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 37 doesn't deserve a look in. Not only was it basic, but it was also framed by one of the worst WWE feuds of the modern era.

Shane's performance in 2018's GRR wasn't as egregious as his ego trip during the 2022 Rumble, at least. By then, McMahon apparently believed he should be throwing hands credibly with Brock Lesnar and looking like a million bucks. Back in 2018, he went 8 minutes before being sent packing by future "dunce" Strowman.

Whilst his entrance did get a pop, fan enthusiasm for seeing Shane wrestle had gone downhill by 2018.

Now: Shane had a backstage falling out with his father due to those aforementioned antics at the 2022 Royal Rumble. He wouldn't return to the WWE mix until WrestleMania 39. There, he was supposed to work an impromptu bout with The Miz, but McMahon ripped his quads to shreds when attempting a leapfrog and had to be replaced by Snoop Dogg.

No, you put the psychedelics down. That actually happened.

Shane-O then left WWE again in June 2024 and has since been linked to a jump over to AEW. Hell, there were even reports that McMahon wanted to buy All Elite Wrestling from Tony Khan and stick it to Triple H. That was never going to happen, but he and Tony did hold polite talks about his possible involvement on screen.
