Things are getting silly over in Stamford.

Ladies and gentlemen, here's your dumb-as-hell wrestling story for today.

WWE is currently being sued by a patent trolling company for the WWE Network. Yes, really. A joke of an organisation has filed a claim against Vince McMahon's promotion for utilising its own over-the-top streaming service.

This is according to a new article from Forbes' David Bixenspan, stating that a group called Rothschild Broadcast Distribution Systems is suing WWE on the basis that the Network allows users to send video over a system in order to stream to a device. This is obviously ridiculous, though RBDS have been known to launch similar suits in the past, using deliberately vague terms like the above to try and strike lucky.

That is patent trolling in a nutshell. Typically, the suing party hasn't actually invented the thing they're trying to claim for, and it's expected that this suit won't last long before the courts throw it out.

Imagine having to deal with something this stupid as the ongoing global crisis throttles business, sending stock prices into the abyss. This is likely why Rothschild Broadcast Distribution Systems is striking now, at this precise moment, though they're probably doomed to fail.
