LA Knight remains in "extremely high" standing in WWE, though people within the promotion are worried that creative may miss the boat on pushing the popular star.

PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported on Wednesday that WWE executives remain high on Knight. The SmackDown man has earned praise for getting over and "breaking the mold of what was given to him creatively," as well as exceeding expectations as a strong main roster character.

One of PWInsider's sources compared Knight's situation coming out of the Max Dupri gimmick in Maximum Male Models to 'Ringmaster' Steve Austin becoming 'Stone Cold.'

WWE does have future plans for Knight, but wants to wait until the timing is right before pulling the trigger, reports Johnson. Merchandise sales and crowd pops have been used as evidence of Knight's rise. Now, officials are waiting for "the right moment in time", as they try to present Knight in a way that doesn't "waste" his appearances.

Following on from this, insider account WRKD Wrestling tweeted that with WWE waiting to push Knight, some are worried about the star losing momentum:-

We can add that there are parties worried that the company won’t strike while the iron is hot and momentum will fade, as they’ve done with some in the past.

WWE raised eyebrows by not having the surging Knight take the men's Money in the Bank ladder match at last month's event in London, England. Since then, the 40-year-old has also failed to advance through the United States Title Invitational competition, falling in a Fatal Four Way on 21 July.
