WWE Just SPOILED Its Own World Title Match Result... (AAA News)

WWE drop Worlds Collide graphic that spoils AAA result before they've co-promoted their first show

WWE may have accidentally revealed the outcome of an upcoming world title match – and it's one technically happening outside its own promotion.

During the May 26th episode of Monday Night Raw, the company were promoting the upcoming Worlds Collide crossover show between WWE, NXT, and the newly-acquired AAA promotion on June 7th. One of the featured matches advertised for the event is Chad Gable vs. El Hijo del Vikingo, and to add fuel to that fire, Vikingo made a surprise appearance to cost Gable his Money in the Bank qualifying match against Penta and Dragon Lee, partly as revenge for the squabble the pair had at WrestleMania 41 following El Grande Americano's win over Rey Fenix. As afters, WWE ran a graphic promoting the Gable vs. Vikingo match, and that’s where the apparent spoiler dropped - the match was listed as being for the AAA Mega Championship.

This is problematic, because Vikingo isn’t the current champion. That belt is currently held by Alberto El Patrón, better known to longtime WWE fans as Alberto Del Rio. Vikingo is scheduled to challenge El Patrón for the belt on May 31st so the graphic all-but confirms that Vikingo is set to dethrone the former WWE Champion and enter Worlds Collide as AAA Mega Champion.

For those familiar with AAA’s dynamics - and WWE’s distancing from Alberto Del Rio following a series of legal controversies - this outcome may not come as a surprise, but jumping the gun is a fumble nonetheless. It also brings to question how much El Patrón will continue wrestling for AAA at all in the future, especially with him not featuring in the advertisement and marketing for Worlds Collide even before this promotional botch.
