WWE would be shooting themselves in the foot by pivoting on their own booking yet again, sure, but they'd be blowing an entire leg off if they dared make Cody a double champ right now. Let's make one thing crystal clear: Rhodes doesn't need that United States Title at all, and the belt deserves better than fading into the background.

The US strap wouldn't sit snugly alongside his WWE Title - it'd be a background prop that cruelly eliminates an entire portion of SmackDown's product just to turn Cody into some unstoppable belt collector. Is there anybody on the planet who'd lose sleep if Triple H temporarily ignored Paul's title and kept it away from Rhodes?

Cody has done a stunning job of maintaining his gusto as a genuine babyface for over two solid years now, but WWE must be careful not to over-egg things too much or step on others. Dude doesn't need more than the one belt he has. Simple as that!
