1. GUNTHER Becomes A Goofy ‘King’
This should be the number one thing keeping fans awake at night heading into Saturday.
GUNTHER's character is pure pro wrestling heel. He's straightforward on the mic, then illustrates his point during matches by physically tearing opponents apart in a number of ways. The fact GUNTHER wins bouts using multiple different moves just works for him, and it's this strait-laced presentation that makes him stand out from the crowd.
Typically, WWE tends to go down the cartoonish route with King Of The Ring. That's arguably hard to shake because the crown and getup itself would make Disney's Ratigan from The Great Mouse Detective blush. Triple H reportedly detested the old crown and 'King' gimmick in 1996 though, so it'd be nightmare fuel if he forced that on someone like GUNTHER in 2024.
Seeing Imperium's finest do his best Booker T impression ("King Bookah!") doesn't sound like a good time for anyone. Here's hoping Trips has the sense to avoid the goofiest royal tropes and present GUNTHER as a 'King Of Wrestling' more than a bad joke.
