WWE Legend Admits He Was "Terrified" Of Wrestling In Saudi Arabia
There was a very specific reason why this WWE icon was wary of Saudi Arabia.
Goldberg has admitted that he was frankly "terrified" the first time he travelled over to Saudi Arabia with WWE at Super ShowDown in June 2019.
The ex-WCW icon told SmackDown announcer Pat McAfee's podcast that he was wary of the country due to his religion. Goldberg, in his own words, is "one of the most visible Jewish guys on the planet", and he wasn't sure how well he'd be received by Saudi fans.
Much to his relief, Bill was greeted favourably and treated with real respect by everybody over there. Still, he's grateful to WWE for the security they provided for the roster during their stay.
Goldberg also doubled down on prior claims that his match with The Undertaker was a "debacle". Despite the main event's woes, he's retrospectively glad that WWE made steps to "westernise" Saudi Arabia - that comment may raise some eyebrows, but Bill is clearly proud to play his part in Vince McMahon's money-spinning deal.
He added that WWE "caught a lot of sh*t" in the beginning for even going to Saudi. Now, looking back, Goldberg is glad he did. He was totally crapping his pants at the thought of it initially though!
