WWE Legend Defends NXT 2.0's "New Direction"
A company Hall Of Famer believes WWE made the right call by changing to NXT 2.0.
Mick Foley digs what WWE is doing on Tuesday nights with the revamped NXT 2.0.
The company legend told Wrestling Inc that Vince McMahon got it right when he decided to shake things up and steer the brand back towards being a concrete developmental station for Raw and SmackDown. Mick also thinks that NXT's current approach will help both of those shows in the long run and furnish them with a whole host of fresh stars.
Foley admitted, "I don’t know enough about the ratings to tell you whether it’s working or not". He's not concentrating on that for now - instead, the Hall Of Famer only wants to see more young wrestlers find their feet before taking their skills to USA Network or FOX.
The hardcore icon also said that Vince probably didn’t think [the original NXT] was preparing the wrestlers as well as it could".
Fans are split on 2.0's first few months. Some quite like the change of pace, whereas others (the most vocal section) miss the classic style of the third brand.
Mick did also point out that his son Dewey works as a writer on the show and is "enjoying the new direction".
