WWE Money In The Bank Winners: Where Are They Now?
They had the whole world in their hands.
Since its inception back in 2005, a whopping 22 stars have all been fortunate enough to scale the ladder and claim the prestigious Money in the Bank contract, giving them the opportunity to cash-in on a World Title match at a time of their choosing.
What was once a WrestleMania treat soon evolved into a yearly must-see PPV in its own right and before we knew it, we had multiple MITB briefcase holders running around at the same time.
Though the cash-in success percentage is still reasonably high (sitting at a positive 82.6%), wrestlers aren't guaranteed long term or even immediate joy after winning the high-risk match. Sometimes the journey turns out to be more interesting than the destination and on multiple occasions a star's stock has taken a hit as soon as they part ways with their career-changing weapon.
A wide array of talented performers have all unhooked the briefcase and set themselves up for greatness, all taking on the moniker of Mr. or Ms. Money in the Bank at one point or another.
But, which stars made the most out of life after 'Bank'? And which simply became another company statistic?
Let's find out.
22. Edge (WrestleMania 21, 2005)
Cash In: Successful.
You never forget your first.
After winning the inaugural MITB ladder match, Edge went on to become the first man to successfully cash in the contract at 2006's New Year's Revolution. He took advantage of a prone John Cena and claimed his first WWE Championship in the process.
This kickstarted Edge's main event run in the company and from here on out he was considered as a reliable top heel (and babyface when needed).
He'd eventually be forced to retire in 2011 due to a diagnosis of cervical spinal stenosis. However, he bowed out with an impressive resume, boasting four WWE Championships, seven World Heavyweight Championships, five Intercontinental Championships and a whole host of other prestigious accolades - such as being a Royal Rumble and King of the Ring winner.
Against all the odds, Edge would make a triumphant return in the 2020 Royal Rumble and even went on to battle Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match at WrestleMania 36.
