WWE: My WrestleMania 29 Experience

The Long Wait

HBK By this point it was still only about 2pm and doors weren€™t opening for another 2 and half hours. We were pleased we got there early but now had nothing to do except stand about picking our ears. Off we wandered and came across a barred off area with tons of people on either side and with no way across. I initially thought that this must be the talent entrance and no sooner had we stopped to look for another way across, out pops a certain Heart Break Kid from a big black car with Cowboy hat and boots waving to the fans before disappearing into the stadium. The barriers moved allowing us to move across but it was a very bizarre way for the talent to enter. Only a hundred yards later we found our gate and with nothing left to do, decided to wait out with the other eager bunnies. We were only about 6 people in and decided it would be better to be the first in rather than the last. The wife has a pretty bad back so standing or sitting about anywhere uncomfortable gives her some stress but she was a trooper and spent most of her time sat on the floor as I witnessed the queue behind us grow. Not long into our stint the trains from Secaucus started to arrive and again, being from the UK we had never seen such massive trains, and these guys were double deckers! Out poured hundreds of fans on 15 minute intervals and we thanked our lucky stars we had joined the queue so near the front. Before long two rows had formed snaking all over the place and in the centre, a dude dressed as Goldust, beer cooler nearby shouting and chanting away to himself and friends. Quite the spectacle! Naturally being in the same spot for 2+ hours got a bit boring with the only real reason stand up being the WWE camera crew coming out to record some crowd reaction. We also saw a €larger€ WWE fan chastise some dudes in front of us who started an unsuccessful €œYES€ chant by claiming that such a chant was so last year€.alright fun police! The wind was still about and getting chillier so when 4:30 rolled about and we still couldn€™t go in, we all got a bit annoyed. 10 minutes later the dude at the front had his bag searched and off we went, through security, up a massive escalator and into the snacks and drinks loop and were face to face with yet another €˜merch stand with people still willing to part with their cash. I still don€™t know why they didn€™t visit one of the €˜merch vans or the store but hey ho, maybe they forgot something.
