The WWE Superstore
And another queue! It appeared they were only letting a certain amount of people in at any one time which, judging by the amount of people waiting to get in, was a good idea otherwise we would never have been able to move in there. We sucked up the waiting time by listening to a group of guys behind us, all of which had a good knowledge of wrestling, discussing what was likely to happen during the show. The wife gave me a look as if to say; Dont get involved you wrestling obsessed ass! So I kept my mouth shut and listened to what they had to say. Everyone it would seem could see a Cena heel turn and several ways it could happen were discussed. We did manage to spot all the guys who had made the effort to dress up as wrestlers past and present. We saw the Hart Foundation, Taker, Kane, Punk and AJ among others but the guy dressed as Daniel Bryan, tighty Whiteys and all won the prize for most ambitious. He must have been growing his beard for a year for the full effect. Kudos to you sir. Im sure there are probably pictures online of him somewhere so go look em up. During the wait we could hear the sound checks taking place from within the MetLife and an interesting tid bit for you all; we heard Brodus Clays music being played in the arena. Seems the idea to pull the Tons of Funk / Scholars match was cut very late on. We also heard Living Colour rehearsing so CM Punk's entrance was revealed to those waiting outside well before we had even got within the confines of the stadium. Ah well. (Diddy rehearsed several times and was shouting out to an empty arena to sing along... .guess you gotta get it right I suppose) After about an hour we were finally about 15 people from getting through the gates which had several security guards posted on forming the gateway to the store. To our absolute dismay a stout looking woman with clipboard came through the gates and told us that the store would be closing so that a security sweep of the stadium could be performed. We stared on in shock as we were told we would have to come back two hours later to make our purchases. Coming from the UK it is VERY costly to get WWE merch sent over and considering the lady of mine likes her fitted gear, this was our opportunity to load ourselves up with the merch we really wanted. There were several Merch vans around but none carried womens sizes. We were more than furious and the guys behind us had exited the queue muttering how stupid it all was. Being British, we can queue all day if were stubborn enough so we hung onto hope that wed pass through the gates. The clipboard women then got into a conversation with another employee and security kept letting people through. We were now all of 5 people from being let in. We were getting a bit nervous as one of the security guys broke away from the gate and walked down the line, up to us and finally past us. Moments later we heard that the cut off was all of 4 people behind us. We had made it and my wallet got a whole lot heavier.
We almost skipped up the pathway to the store thanking our stars we hadnt loitered around further before entering the queue. We passed through the doors to the superstore and were greeted by a gorgeous sight to anyone who doesnt live in the US; TONS of merch that we could wander about and pay for, cash-money, at a till. All was right in the world. Were closing in half an hour for the security sweep so make your way to the nearest register as soon as possible What?? We now had a time limit and were sure that if we werent in the queue in 10 minutes wed be kicked out before we could buy anything. Frantically we rushed about the store looking for all the stuff we wanted. A CM Punk Hoody each, a Taker Tee for me, a plush toy for a friend, a couple other items and a Knees To Faces tee for her.which wasnt anywhere! The blokes had everything but the ladies section was pretty small. She wanted a Tee to wear that very night and had her heart set on the anti-Rock Punk shirt. We had to improvise! Triple H? NO! the New Punk Shirt? Hmmm Nah! Ohhh what about Daniel Bryan? Noooooooo. But the WrestleMania Jerseys had caught her eye already. The mens sizes were all far too big for her but being the woman I married she took a chance and had a look at the Kids sizes. One medium kids jersey tried on later and we were on our way to the check-out, arms full of merch and cash out ready to line Vinne Macs pockets. We had a little chat with the girl behind the counter and found out she had been on shift all the way over axxess, from 10am to late and with it being Mania, was working until 2:30 in the morning. The WWE believe in slave labour I tells ya! She was nice enough though and seemed quite pleased we were making genuine conversation. She did tell us a price much below what we were expecting as we looked at each wondering if we should say anything. But in the end we put the correct fat wad of cash down and made our way out. My advice to anyone going to a WWE pop up store in the future, get there dam early! But be prepared to wait...
