Inside The MetLife
We could finally purchase our beverage and a hot dog each to tie us over during the festivities and made our way to our block. Walking around the inner bowl you could see the ring cover, statue of liberty and all, towering above the stadium and as we stepped out to the seated area, we saw the true magnificence of a Wrestlemania stage and all that goes with it. Im sure everyone will agree that the staging at this years Mania was awesome and to see the sheer size and be a part of it was one of the many things Ill remember fondly. Being one of the first through security we were also within the first 100 or so people to sit down. For a while the Mrs had been quite concerned we may be sat on the first tier with nothing but the support struts for the ring canopy as a view as we werent quite centre on to the ring. But as we sat we realised we had some of the better seats in the house. Almost directly opposite the hard camera, halfway up the tier and with a set of stairs in front of my seat, I was able to stretch the legs while being able to see everything.
We certainly are not used to cushioned folding seats with cup holders at events such as this and parking ourselves comfortably was easy. By this point, the wifes back had pretty much given up on her (in fact she had back spasms for a while) so we sat for a short time just staring at it all taking some pictures. Throughout our stay in NYC we had left our phones in the hotel room safe. We didnt intend on calling anyone whilst out and about and this same sentiment was carried over to New Jersey. We were totally unaware that the MetLife would supply free Wi-Fi so you could post pictures and videos to social media sites. So, if you go next year and are in the same situation as ourselves, take your phone with you to brag to all your friends back home. Dont be disappointed like I was. In this time we noticed what must have been VIPs walking out onto the entrance ramp and taking pictures of each other. We also noticed that the screen above the ring on the far side seemed to be having some difficulties lifting off of the floor to its position nestled just below the Mania sign. A loud ruckus started behind us as a couple of guys made their way down the stairs chanting and yelling after what I assume was some time spent with some beers. They stopped near us to mark out over a girl dressed up as Kane then sat and remained noisy for the majority of the night. More on them later. Time to relax for a while as the stadium filled. Thankfully the MetLife was big enough to eliminate wind and we sat in glorious sunshine while the predictable WOOOOOOOHs took hold of the audience. We didnt expect a CODY, CODY, CODY chant to emerge from a corner of the stadium and only just noticed the Mania pre-show set in one of the boxes where Cody and Sandow emerged (obviously just told there match had been cut and wanting a piece of the action). As the people around us filed into their seats, a couple of guys along the same row as us had become restless it seemed and they were up and down to the bar constantly. This would become a common theme for the night...
