WWE Names New Senior Vice President Creative Writing Operations

WWE has named its new creative writing chief. Hint: it isn't Bill Watts.

In a communication from the corporate pages of its website, WWE has named a new Senior Vice President Creative Writing Operations: Christine Lubrano.

"Christine will be responsible for overseeing all strategic operations for the company’s Creative Writing division and report to Brad Blum, WWE Executive Vice President, Operations," reads the release.

There's more, and the copy can't help but invite a certain cynicism:

"In her new role, Lubrano will be charged with developing and leading a team of writers for WWE’s weekly flagship programs, Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown. She will oversee long-term planning for the Creative Writing team and manage its operations in collaboration with Executive Director, Bruce Prichard."

This "long-term planning" remit seems...ambitious, since WWE can't work out whether Shinsuke Nakamura, for example, is a new babyface stud or whether those returning violins are tiny, and play little sad songs for three-minute losses to Otis and King Corbin Royal Rumble eliminations.

The release goes on to outline Lubrano's credentials, and make no mistake, that bit of snark is no reflection on her. Lubrano was "integral to the success" of the Emmy award-winning 'Portlandia' and was a "leading creative force" behind 'Documentary Now'.

Both comedy shows were adored by critics, and rightfully so, so perhaps Riddle might actually be funny now.
