WWE Network Relaunch Date Revealed
You will eat wrestling content like Homer Simpson eats donuts in hell.
Per PWInsider's Mike Johnson, the long-rumoured "tiered" WWE Network model is set to launch in January of 2020. He writes:
"There's been a lot of talk in the last week that the tiered WWE Network will launch in January 2020. WWE has been reaching out to independent companies about their potential interest in appearing on the Network."
Bizarrely, in addition to the expected content from WWE affiliates the company has the power to shut down, much less broadcast - ICW, PROGRESS - Johnson reports that the avant-garde cult comedy promotion CHIKARA may be offered as part of the service, which would be wild, were it not for this era of overarching paradigm change.
Moreover, Johnson reports that WWE has reached out to several more Independent companies and indeed lucha promotions in Mexico, adding credence to Dave Meltzer's recent report that the company was in talks with CMLL. Meltzer reported in July that WWE held similar talks with Dragon Gate and Stardom in Japan, though it's not clear if those discussions were centred around this specific strategy. If they were, it would be interesting to peek into PAC's psyche right now.
This is consistent with Triple H's talk of WWE as being your "one stop shop for everything" - and indeed WWE's rather sinister mentality of owning everything remotely connected with pro wrestling. World of Sport on ITV was the impetus behind everything, and...
...it was cancelled after just one season.
What a world.
