WWE No Mercy 2001: 5 Awesome Things And 5 That Sucked

4. Putting The Hardy Boyz In The Opener Is Always Smart

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xsbpx3_the-hardy-boys-vs-the-hurricane-and-lance-storm-no-mercy-2001_sport It's always a smart move to put Matt & Jeff Hardy in the opening match of a PPV. They were the most energetic tag team in WWE and the crowd was always up for anything that they did. They walked into the match as the WCW Tag Team Champions after winning them a few weeks earlier. This was a time when WWE was booking title changes all the time. The duo of Hurricane & Storm didn't team together that much although they should have. Not only were they both great workers, their names also fit together. A hurricane and a storm? They should have been a more permanent team. Their careers took different paths with Storm as a more serious wrestler while Hurricane was an over the top "superhero" of sorts. It was a match that also involved female valets with Lita supporting the Hardys and Ivory/Molly Holly helping the heels. At one point, Jeff even hit a double leg drop on Ivory. Lita took out Molly. It was all part of the entertaining finish. In the end, Jeff hit the Swanton and Matt made the cover for the Hardy victory in an exciting 8 minute opening match. The length wasn't too short or too long. It was just right.
