The NXT Women's Championship bout between champion Bayley and challenger Asuka further highlighted just how far ahead of the curve NXT's women's division is. Both competitors displayed incredible athletic ability and storytelling capabilities. However, it was after the bell rang that the segment's most memorable moment would occur. Bayley, who had quickly become a cornerstone in NXT, had been choked unconscious by the dangerous Asuka Lock to crown a new Women's Champion. The result itself was a shock, as Bayley has been presented as the underdog that continues to rise to the occasion no matter the obstacle. Semi-conscious and seemingly unaware of her surroundings, a defeated Bayley sat against the ring while Asuka stood tall, her trademark grin plastered across her face. That single juncture signified the changing of the guard in NXT's women's division.
