As soon as it became clear American Alpha had lost the NXT Tag-Team Titles, there was almost a stunned silence in the live audience. Before TakeOver: Dallas, The Revival had held the belts for 162 days. By comparison, Alpha managed just 68 before dropping the gold back to their rivals at TakeOver: The End.

That babyface win in Dallas felt monumental at the time, but switching the titles back to the villains only puts over the unpredictable nature of the division. Competitive spirit should be the focal point for tag-team wrestling, and that's how WWE put things across during this one.

What made the title change so damn good was that few could see it coming before it happened. Shocks, when used sparingly and in the heat of battle, can be highly effective. This win gives Dash and Dawson something to brag about in coming weeks, whilst American Alpha can move on to briefly face Paul Ellering's new squad.

It's a win-win situation, especially if it means Chad Gable and Jason Jordan are about to hit Raw and SmackDown come brand split time.
