WWE: NXT's Arrival Will Lead To 7 Major Departures
4. Rey Mysterio
Arguably the most successful Lucha Libre wrestler to cross over into the U.S. is Rey Mysterio. From his early ECW matches, to his cruiserweight bouts on WCW Nitro, he was the first glimpse we had of Mexican-style wrestling on American television. Once Rey entered the WWE, he went on to become a 3-time World Champion, and is the smallest World Champion in WWE history. Unfortunately, the high flying style of Mysterio has taken a toll on his body, particularly his knees. He has had numerous surgeries on his knees, and has missed months at a time in the WWE while rehabbing the injuries. Even when he returns back to the ring, he seems to have a hard time staying healthy. Due to this, WWE was placing Mysterio in a lot of tag team and 6-man tag matches in order to bring him along slowly. An aging, high flyer is not a good combination for the WWE. Without the ability to perform his signature moves, look for Rey to call it a career as soon as his current deal expires. If the WWE wants to bring in a technically sound wrestler, with high flying skills, look no further than the current NXT Champion Adrian Neville. Following the footsteps of Seth Rollins, Big E and now Bo Dallas, once you become the NXT Champion you're not that far away from impacting the main roster.
