WWE Payback 2023: 10 Things That Must Happen
1. Shinsuke Nakamura Steals The Title
Please note, that doesn’t say Shin wins the World Heavyweight Championship. He won't be doing that at Payback, but he can steal the belt and creative can certainly spin this out for another month or so heading into Fastlane. A ‘No DQ’ stip would be perfect for these dudes there.
Saturday must see a successful, hard-fought Rollins title defence, then Naka knee-striking his nose into the third row time and time again before the show goes off the air. Afterwards, like a majestic heel bastard, Shin can smile as he grabs the World Heavyweight Title, puts it over his shoulder, looks down at Seth and then walks out.
Cue intrigue for Raw.
The visual of Nakamura holding that World Title would create buzz on socials if anybody skipped Payback too. They'd think WWE had booked a belt switch, and that'd build some more interest in the feud. It's an old-school trick, but a good one.
