At Survivor Series, The New Day were eliminated from one of the bumper Team Raw vs. Team SmackDown matches early. Despite being captains of the red team, the reigning Raw Tag-Team Champions didn't last long at all on the pay-per-view. This was something they acknowledged before facing Sheamus and Cesaro on Monday.

In a title bout, New Day were able to hold onto the belts. Those choosing to dig a little deeper into the nuances of their victory will notice that the babyface trio effectively cheated to win. Worse yet, they did so against Cesaro, the babyface of his own team with Sheamus.

As Cesaro had Kofi Kingston locked in the Sharpshooter, Xavier Woods distracted everyone by playing trombone on the ring apron. This led to New Day escaping with the titles, although Kingston had already tapped out to the submission hold behind the referee's back.

Right now, The New Day should be written as desperate. The are around 3 weeks from breaking Demolition's long-standing 478-day tenure as World Tag-Team Champs. Regardless, it was slightly odd to see them act so heelish.
